- This test covers only the Student Counseling specialty standards (six domains). The General Educational Test is separate and has its own page.
How to register
- Go to ETEC's e-services portal (e-services.etec.gov.sa) and open your beneficiary profile, or create an account if you do not have one.
- Register for the subject test in student counseling during the announced registration window and pay the fee (SAR 100).
- Your profile shows whether your subject's test is on paper or on computer. After paying you can change or delete the booking up to 72 hours before a paper test, or 48 hours before a computer-based test.
- Sit the test with a valid ID: national ID for Saudis or iqama for non-Saudis, a passport, or a Saudi driving licence. Calculators are not allowed.
- Check your result in your profile once it is announced; it stays valid for five years. The license needs both the subject test and the General Educational Test, its level is set by the lower of the two scores together with your qualification and years of experience. Check the official licence service for any issuance or upgrade fee.

Frequently asked questions
How many questions are in the Student Counseling test and how long is it?
75 multiple-choice questions with four options per the candidate guide weight table, in 120 minutes (two hours). Calculators are not allowed and the test is in Arabic. Our mock exams are the same length.
Can I try Teacher License – Student Counseling questions for free?
Yes. Free questions: a 10-question diagnostic test covering the main units, no sign-up; at the end we compare your score with the license levels 50 (Practitioner), 70 (Advanced) and 80 (Expert), tell you how many questions you are short of the next level, and show your weakest units. The free practice test page lists the same questions with answers and an explanation for every option. The rest of the questions and the full mock exams come with a pass from SAR 26.
What makes this Teacher License – Student Counseling question bank different?
Question bank: full mock exams of 75 questions in 120 minutes, like the real test with a result for every unit, plus 500 explained questions across 6 units, every option explained, a review of your mistakes, and two ways to practise: see the answer right away, or sit a full timed mock. Every question is reviewed and referenced, ready to practise on your phone. Try the free questions and read the explanations before buying full access.
What is the pass mark?
The minimum for a license is 50 (Practitioner Teacher), then 70 for Advanced Teacher and 80 or above for Expert Teacher. The level uses the lower of your General Educational and subject-specific scores, together with your qualification and years of experience. Scoring is criterion-referenced and wrong answers carry no penalty.
What does the test cover and how is it weighted?
Six domains per the candidate guide and Student Counseling standards: foundations, theories and methods 21.3%; developmental characteristics 14.7%; information-gathering tools 10.6%; counseling programmes 22.6%; professional development 12%; and ethical and professional responsibilities 18.8% — 16 standards in all.
Is the subject test enough to get the license?
No. The Teachers' Professional License needs two tests: the Student Counseling subject test and the General Educational Test, which is the same for every subject. Each costs SAR 100, and the level uses the lower of the two scores.
Is my mock exam score an official result?
No. Scores on this site are for practice only and are not an official result. This site is independent and is not affiliated with ETEC, Qiyas or any government body.
Is this an official site, and how do I pay?
It is an independent site, not part of Qiyas or any government body, and every question is reviewed before it is published. You pay once, with no automatic renewal, through Waffo Pancake (the merchant of record) by Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and your statement shows "WAFFO". If you were charged twice or the pass did not open, email support@saudiexams.com.
Study material sample: Foundations, Theories and Methods of Guidance and Counseling
Summary
Learn how school counseling foundations guide respectful, evidence-informed decisions; distinguish major theories and match individual, group, preventive and brief methods to student needs within professional scope.
What the exam focuses on
- Explain foundations and compare scientific criteria without labeling difference as illness.
- Connect each theory to its mechanism, a suitable school example and an observable goal.
- Choose brief, developmental, preventive or remedial support by need and purpose.
Show 1 more
- Use session and group skills with informed participation, confidentiality limits and appropriate referral.
Common traps
- Statistical rarity, social disapproval or a single emotional reaction is not a sufficient clinical diagnosis. Consider context, distress and functioning.
- Reinforcement is identified by its effect on future behavior, not the adult’s intention. Negative reinforcement increases behavior through removal.
- Empathy is understanding a perspective, not giving advice immediately; acceptance of a student does not require acceptance of harm.
Show 3 more
- The ABC in REBT is event–belief–consequence. Behavioral observation may also use ABC for antecedent–behavior–consequence; identify the model before answering.
- Brief support is not a promise to resolve bereavement or trauma in a set number of meetings. Referral and follow-up remain available.
- Group confidentiality is an expectation with limits, not a guarantee about peers. Group size and stage labels depend on purpose and the model used.

Guidance versus counseling?
Guidance is the broader programme; counseling is a focused helping relationship within it.
Why does unusual behavior not establish a disorder?
Rarity alone omits development, culture, distress, persistence and functional impact.
What separates positive from negative reinforcement?
Adding versus removing a consequence; both increase or maintain the target behavior.
Rogers’s three central relationship conditions?
Genuineness/congruence, unconditional positive regard and empathic understanding.
What does B mean in Ellis’s ABC?
Beliefs about the activating event, linked to emotional and behavioral consequences.
Self-efficacy versus self-worth?
Self-efficacy concerns capability for a particular task; self-worth concerns one’s broader value as a person.
How do developmental, preventive and remedial purposes differ?
Build capacities; anticipate a specified risk; address an existing difficulty. A programme can combine purposes.
