Summary
Connect the customer’s need with the financing structure and its obligations, then read cost, risk, disclosure and dispute rights. Separate asset ownership from use, credit limit from actual debt, and term cost from APR. This unit uses the 2025 card rules and current APR and service-fee rules where they differ from the 2022 curriculum.
What the exam focuses on
- Identify the structure: cost-plus sale, lease of use, or card facility.
- Read amount, maturity, installment, total cost and APR together before comparing.
- Review maintenance, insurance, loss and ownership transfer in leasing.
Show 2 more
- Distinguish statement disputes from unauthorized-use reports; their procedures and deadlines differ.
- Tie every number to its current source and unit: calendar or business days, percentage or monetary cap.
Common traps
- A smaller installment does not prove lower cost; it may extend maturity or conceal a residual amount.
- Acceptance of reissuance is not permission to change card category and fees without a request.
- Paying the minimum does not clear the balance; understand duration and cost.
Show 4 more
- An automated APR calculator is not validated merely because the screen works; compare results with SAMA’s tool.
- Numbers in disclosure examples are not regulatory limits for every customer or guaranteed personal offers.
- Do not replace the current 365-day APR basis with an older annex’s 12 equal months.
- A dispute does not erase undisputed debts. Outsourcing does not remove the institution’s consumer-protection responsibility.

Murabaha or lease?
Murabaha is a disclosed-cost-plus-profit sale; lease arranges use with separate ownership provisions.
Is the credit limit actual debt?
No; it is a ceiling. Usage and agreed fees determine the amount due.
Does creditworthiness without a request permit card issuance?
No; an explicit authenticated request is also required.
Primary card age?
18 Hijri years, with the supplementary exception subject to its conditions.
Before first charging an annual fee?
The customer must activate the card.
Grace before a card late fee?
At least 25 days from statement issuance.
Monthly minimum amount?
Not below 5% of the amount due; minimum-only payment cannot be forced.
Statement dispute or unauthorized use?
Unauthorized use has 7-business-day handling; do not automatically apply ordinary statement-dispute timing.
