Where other sources differ

  • Physics has a single specialized test, unlike mathematics and science, which are split into two levels. Our mock exams have 88 questions spread across the eight domains by their official weights. Physics teachers serve the secondary stage, according to the Ministry of Education's guide to specialisations for teaching posts (1445 AH).
  • Some websites say waves and light are 14% of the test, heat 12% and modern physics 10%. ETEC's guide says: waves and light 12%, heat and properties of matter 10%, modern and nuclear physics 14%, and the nature and history of physics 6% and experiments and maths skills 6%.

How to register

  1. Go to ETEC's e-services portal (e-services.etec.gov.sa) and open your beneficiary profile, or create an account if you do not have one.
  2. Register for the specialized test during the announced registration window, choosing Physics, and pay the fee (SAR 100). According to ETEC's published documents, physics has a single test, with no Level 1 and Level 2.
  3. Sit the test on your date with a valid ID: national ID or iqama, a passport, or a Saudi driving licence. Whether your test is on paper or on computer is shown in your profile, depending on the subject, and calculators are not allowed. After paying you can change or delete the booking up to 72 hours before a paper test, or 48 hours before a computer-based test.
  4. Check your result in your profile once it is announced; it stays valid for five years from the announcement date.
  5. The professional license needs both the specialized test and the General Educational Test. Its level is set by the lower of the two scores together with your qualification and years of experience, and issuing or upgrading the license costs SAR 100.

Frequently asked questions

How many questions are there in the physics test and how long is it?

88 multiple-choice questions with four options, in 120 minutes (two hours). The test is in Arabic, and our mock exams are the same length.

Can I try Teacher License – Physics questions for free?

Yes. Free questions: a 10-question diagnostic test covering the main units, no sign-up; at the end we compare your score with the license levels 50 (Practitioner), 70 (Advanced) and 80 (Expert), tell you how many questions you are short of the next level, and show your weakest units. The free practice test page lists the same questions with answers and an explanation for every option. The rest of the questions and the full mock exams come with a pass from SAR 26.

What makes this Teacher License – Physics question bank different?

Question bank: full mock exams of 88 questions in 120 minutes, like the real test with a result for every unit, plus 589 explained questions across 8 units, every option explained, a review of your mistakes, and two ways to practise: see the answer right away, or sit a full timed mock. Every question is reviewed and referenced, ready to practise on your phone. Try the free questions and read the explanations before buying full access.

What is the pass mark?

The minimum for a license is 50 (Practitioner Teacher), then 70 for Advanced Teacher and 80 or above for Expert Teacher, under the Professional License Regulations (Article 4). The level uses the lower of your General Educational and subject-specific scores, together with your qualification and years of experience. Scoring is criterion-referenced and wrong answers carry no penalty.

What does the test cover and how is it weighted?

18 standards in eight domains, according to the candidate guide: Mechanics and Fluids 22%, Electrostatics, Current Electricity and Magnetism 22%, Modern and Nuclear Physics 14%, Waves and Light 12%, Heat, Properties of Matter and Thermodynamics 10%, Physics Teaching Strategies and Assessment 8%, Practical Work and Mathematical and Statistical Skills 6%, and Nature and History of Physics and Links to Other Sciences 6%.

Do I need a calculator, and how do I prepare for the calculation questions?

Calculators are not allowed in the subject tests, and the numbers in the guide's questions are chosen to be solved on paper. The guide's example about a particle with acceleration a(t) = 6t² and initial speed 4 m/s takes three steps: integrate the acceleration, add the initial speed, then substitute t = 3 s to get 58 m/s. Practise multiplying, dividing, powers of ten and simple integration without a calculator from day one.

When is the next test?

The next sitting of the subject test is expected in late January 2027. The first 1448 AH sitting ran from 18 to 31 October 2026. Watch ETEC's page for when registration opens.

Are there recall sets (tajmi'at) for the Physics teacher license test?

Yes. The question bank has 129 past questions, 37 of them from the 1446 AH recall set, each reviewed and every option explained. But recall sets are not spread across the domains the way the test is: 30 of them are on the nature and history of physics (6% of the test) and only 8 on electricity and magnetism (22%). So practise every domain by its weight, not the recall sets alone.

What is the difference between the Physics test and the Science 2 test?

Science 2 is the test for intermediate school science teachers, and physics is one of its domains at 25%. The Physics test is all physics: eight domains and 18 standards, with mechanics and electricity alone making up 44%. The Ministry of Education's guide to subjects for teaching jobs (1445 AH, p. 19) places physics in secondary school.

Is the subject test enough to get the license?

No. The Teachers' Professional License needs two tests: the subject-specific test in your own field and the General Educational Test, which is the same for every subject. Each costs SAR 100, and the level uses the lower of the two scores, so a high physics score does not lift your level above your General Educational score.

Is my mock exam score an official result?

No. Scores on this site are for practice only and are not an official result. This site is independent and is not affiliated with ETEC, Qiyas or any government body. They do show where you'd stand if the test were today: the full mock exam has the real question count and time, and your score is split by part of the exam so you can see where you lose points.

How long are the result and the license valid?

A subject-test result stays valid for five years from the date it is announced. The license itself is valid for five years, and you can apply to renew it in its final year, under the Professional License Regulations.

Does physics have two levels, like mathematics and science?

No. Physics has one guide and one standards document, unlike mathematics and science, which have two levels. The Ministry of Education's guide to specialisations for teaching posts (1445 AH, p. 19) places physics in the secondary stage and requires a professional license in physics for it.

How do I revise the two biggest domains, mechanics and electricity?

Mechanics and fluids (22%) and electricity and magnetism (22%) together are 44% of the test, so give each two weeks of our eight-week plan. Start with the equations behind the problems (motion, Newton's laws and energy, then Coulomb's law, Ohm's law, the magnetic force and induction), solve each problem on paper first, then read the explanation of every option to see the common mistake behind the wrong ones.

Is this an official site, and how do I pay?

It is an independent site, not part of Qiyas or any government body, and every question is reviewed before it is published. You pay once, with no automatic renewal, through Waffo Pancake (the merchant of record) by Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and your statement shows "WAFFO". If you were charged twice or the pass did not open, email support@saudiexams.com.

Study material sample: Nature and History of Physics, Links to Other Sciences and the Scientific Method

Summary

This unit makes up about 6% of the exam, around 5 of the 88 questions, and has three parts. The first covers the nature of science and the history of physics (standard 6.6.1): features of science, what physics studies, contributions of Islamic and other civilizations, and the difference between a fact, concept, principle, law and theory. The second covers the scientific method (6.6.2): variables, control groups, data collection, measurement error, accuracy and precision, evaluating sources and research ethics. The third covers how physics relates to mathematics and other sciences (6.6.16) and its uses in astronomy, geoscience, medicine, engineering and daily life.

What the exam focuses on

  • The features of science: modifiable, based on sensory evidence, and neutral (6.6.1, indicator 1).
  • The difference between fact, concept, principle, law and theory, with a physics example of each (6.6.1, indicator 5).
  • The contributions of Ibn al-Haytham (optics), al-Khazini (The Balance of Wisdom) and al-Biruni (density) to physics (6.6.1, indicator 3).
Show 5 more
  • A hypothesis is a testable proposed explanation, and it differs from a law and a theory (6.6.1, indicator 5).
  • Independent, dependent and controlled variables, and the role of the control group in an experiment (6.6.2, indicator 2).
  • Accuracy and precision, and systematic and random errors with their sources (6.6.2, indicator 4).
  • Evaluating sources of scientific knowledge and research ethics, including honesty and citing sources (6.6.2, indicators 5 and 6).
  • Physics in medicine (X-rays, ultrasound, MRI), astronomy, geoscience and engineering (6.6.16, indicators 3 and 4).

Common traps

  • A theory never turns into a law, however much evidence builds up. A law describes what happens (often as a mathematical relation), and a theory explains why it happens.
  • A hypothesis is not just a guess: it is a proposed explanation that can be tested by experiment or observation. A claim that cannot be tested is not a scientific hypothesis.
  • Science being modifiable does not make it unreliable. Scientific knowledge is revised when new evidence appears, and that is part of its strength.
Show 5 more
  • Mixing up accuracy and precision: accuracy is how close a measurement is to the true value, and precision is how close repeated measurements are to each other. Readings can be precise but not accurate.
  • Repeating a measurement and averaging reduces random error but does not remove systematic error, such as a zero error in the instrument.
  • A controlled variable is held constant. It is often confused with the independent variable, which is the one the researcher deliberately changes.
  • The control group does not receive the treatment being tested, and it is used for comparison. It is not the group the experiment is run on.
  • The scientific method is not a rigid list always followed in the same order: results can send a researcher back to revise the hypothesis or the experiment. Non-experimental research, such as astronomical observation, is science too.

Which three features of science does standard 6.6.1 name?

Modifiable, based on sensory evidence, and neutral.

What is a scientific hypothesis?

A proposed explanation of a phenomenon that can be tested by experiment or observation.

What is the difference between a law and a theory?

A law describes what happens, and a theory explains why. Neither turns into the other.

What did Ibn al-Haytham write, and what is his key finding?

The Book of Optics, showing that vision happens when light enters the eye.

What is al-Khazini's book, and what is it about?

The Balance of Wisdom, on hydrostatic balances and the density of materials.

What are the independent, dependent and controlled variables?

The independent one is changed by the researcher, the dependent one measures the effect, and the controlled one stays constant.

What does the control group do?

It is used for comparison because it does not receive the tested treatment, so the treatment's effect shows.

What is the difference between accuracy and precision?

Accuracy is closeness to the true value, and precision is closeness among repeated measurements.
