No. Level I is the first of three exams. The charter also has experience and membership requirements.

Yes. Free questions: a 10-question diagnostic test covering the main units, no sign-up; at the end you get your score and your weakest units. Study material sample: Ethical and Professional Standards
Summary
Apply the 2027 ethics learning outcomes using the 2024 twelfth-edition Handbook. This chapter covers the Code, Standards I–VII and the conduct review process.
What the exam focuses on
- Read the scenario for who is owed a duty, what is known and when the action occurs.
- Separate legal compliance, ethical judgment, disclosure and consent: one does not automatically replace another.
- Use the 12th edition updates: I(E), service and cost communication in V(B), and conflict avoidance in VI(A).
Common traps
- A profitable result does not prove an ethical process, and a loss does not by itself prove inadequate diligence.
- Fair dealing need not mean identical services or identical trades for different clients.
- Publicly available conflict information is not automatically effective client disclosure.
Show 2 more
- Passing an examination does not demonstrate competence for every professional assignment.
- Avoid conflicts when reasonably possible. Disclosure does not make prohibited conduct permissible or replace missing professional competence.

Does legality alone establish ethical conduct?
Professional duties can exceed legal minimums; identify affected parties and assess alternatives before acting.
What changes when a role becomes more complex?
I(E): skills must match current responsibilities. A new mandate may require training, assistance or limits on the work accepted.
What is the key restriction on material nonpublic information?
II(A): do not trade or tip others using important information that has not been publicly disseminated.
How does legitimate price impact differ from manipulation?
II(B): fabricated rumors and artificial orders intended to mislead differ from genuine trades that happen to move prices.
Whose welfare guides loyalty decisions?
III(A): identify the ultimate client, put client welfare first and assess brokerage and voting decisions from that perspective.
Must fair service always be identical?
III(B): distribute recommendations and allocate scarce opportunities fairly; transparent service tiers need not provide identical meetings.
What information supports suitability?
III(C): understand objectives, experience and constraints, update them as circumstances change, and evaluate holdings together.
What should performance displays distinguish?
III(D): performance must be understandable and not selectively favorable; distinguish actual results from hypothetical illustrations.
