Start with the current objectives
The skills outline effective 20 April 2026 assigns 25–30% each to preparing data, modelling data, and visualising and analysing data, with 15–20% for management and security. Microsoft lists 100 minutes on the certification page. The question count can vary; our 50-question practice session is an editorial training format.
Days 1–3: prepare data
Connect to a small sales dataset. Profile it, fix types and locale issues, unpivot repeated columns and create fact and dimension queries. Explain a merge versus an append. Compare storage modes against the business requirements, including Direct Lake prerequisites.
Days 4–7: model and calculate
Check grain, keys, relationships and date roles. Build measures and predict their filter context before running them. Compare time-intelligence periods, ratios and semi-additive balances. Practise calculation groups and diagnose a slow visual using the available performance tools.
Days 8–10: communicate and analyse
Build a report for one decision. Add filters, bookmarks, drillthrough and tooltips, then test mobile layout and keyboard access. Review Copilot output for accuracy and try a visual calculation. Explain what an anomaly or forecast can and cannot establish.
Days 11–12: publish and secure
Practise workspace and app distribution. Verify a refresh path and credentials. Define a row-security role, assign its users in the service and test as a Viewer. Check that your test is not accidentally using an elevated workspace role.
Days 13–14: revisit evidence
Answer a mixed practice set, record the reason for each error and repeat the relevant hands-on operation. Use the official exam sandbox to learn the interface. Use Microsoft’s own Practice Assessment through its current sign-in flow; it is practice, not a collection of actual exam questions. A practice percentage is not a conversion to the official scaled pass score of 700.
