Know the exam before planning your study

CISA assesses information systems audit, control and security decisions. The exam has 150 multiple-choice questions and lasts 240 minutes. The passing result is 450 on a scaled range of 200–800. That is not a raw percentage: neither 450 divided by 800 nor your practice accuracy gives an official passing percentage. Incorrect answers carry no penalty, so aim to answer every question.

Use the five domains to organize practice

  • Information Systems Auditing Process: 18%.
  • Governance and Management of IT: 18%.
  • Information Systems Acquisition, Development and Implementation: 12%.
  • Information Systems Operations and Business Resilience: 26%.
  • Protection of Information Assets: 26%.

Start with a short set from each domain to identify gaps. Use the weights to help allocate study time, then give additional attention to your weaker areas. For each scenario, identify the objective, the auditor’s role and whether the question asks for the first action or the best conclusion. Read the explanation for every option, including when your answer is correct. Keep a brief error log and revisit the underlying concept before attempting another mixed set. Practise within a time limit without treating a practice percentage as a prediction of the scaled result.

Choose your language and register

The exam is offered in English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, French, German, Korean and Japanese. Arabic is not among the seven listed exam languages. Arabic questions and explanations on this site support learning; prepare to read the terminology in your chosen exam language as well.

Create an ISACA account with the name matching your accepted government identification. Register for CISA through ISACA, choose the exam language and pay the exam fee: US$575 for members or US$760 for nonmembers. Then use MyISACA to arrange a PSI test-center or remotely proctored appointment. Registration and appointment booking are separate steps. Your exam eligibility lasts six months; check the dates in your account and book within that period.

Prepare for exam day and the next step

Personal calculators are prohibited. Read the current candidate guide and your appointment instructions for identification and delivery requirements. These details and fees were checked on 4 November 2026; consult the linked official sources before paying or booking. Passing the exam does not automatically grant CISA certification: experience requirements and a certification application must also be satisfied.
