Current tasks
Reading includes Complete the Words, Read in Daily Life and Read an Academic Passage. Listening includes Listen and Choose a Response, Listen to a Conversation, Listen to an Announcement and Listen to an Academic Talk.
Writing includes Build a Sentence, Write an Email and Write for an Academic Discussion. Speaking includes Listen and Repeat and Take an Interview.
Adaptation and timing
Reading and Listening use two-stage adaptation. Writing and Speaking are linear. Allow around two hours including directions; test duration and item totals can vary as the test adapts.
Scores
Section and overall scores use a 1–6 scale in half-point steps. Each receiving program sets its own requirement. Accuracy on these exercises is not equivalent to a TOEFL score.
A practical routine
- Read a short everyday text and an academic passage daily. Keep evidence for each answer.
- Listen to audio without reading its transcript, then review missed information.
- Write an email addressing every requested point and a discussion response supporting your position.
- Record yourself repeating sentences you hear, then answering interview questions. Review intelligibility and organization.
- Use current ETS resources to experience task interfaces and timing.
The site offers supplemental exercises. Written conversation transcripts do not assess hearing, and multiple-choice responses do not assess writing production, speaking or adaptive performance.
