Our source is the Professional License Test for Educational Professions page on the Education and Training Evaluation Commission (ETEC) website; dates can change, so check it before you act. This guide is independent: it is not affiliated with ETEC, Qiyas (the National Center for Assessment), the Ministry of Education or any government body.
In short: the General Educational Test is paper-only, two hours long, in Arabic, with no calculator allowed. You enter with an original, valid ID (national ID or iqama, passport or Saudi driving licence), the result appears later in your profile, and anyone who does not pass registers for a later round.
Before test day
- Check your profile on the e-services portal for your day (6 or 7 November 2026), test centre and start time.
- The last chance to change your date or centre, or delete the booking, is 72 hours before a paper test, under "Registered tests" in your profile.
- ETEC's instructions for paper test centres say you receive a text message with your seat number the day before the test.
What to bring
For professional license tests ETEC accepts any of these documents:
- National ID for Saudis, or iqama for non-Saudis
- Passport
- Saudi driving licence
Its general ID rules require the original, not a copy, a plastic card, valid and with a clear photo, and they say a work ID card or a university student card is not accepted. The same instructions say the centre gives you a pencil, so you need to bring nothing but your ID, and only a closed bottle of water is allowed.
In the hall
The points below come from ETEC's instructions for paper test centres, published on the General Aptitude Test page; they are its general rules for paper centres, so follow them unless the supervisors tell you otherwise:
- Arrive half an hour before the test starts; you will not be let in once it has begun.
- Phones and any other devices are banned in the hall and checked at the entrance; better not to bring one, and if you do it is switched off and stored with your belongings. The same goes for bags.
- The answer sheet is inside the question booklet: the first page is for your details and the second for shading answers. Shade on the answer sheet, not in the booklet; you may use the booklet's pages for working.
- There are no breaks, and the supervisor tells you the number of sections and their timing before you start.
- Raise your hand for any query; invigilators will not answer questions about the test content.
ETEC lists violations that can stop your test and cancel your score, including impersonation, filling in false details on the answer sheet, opening the booklet before you are told to, using a phone, taking photos and continuing to answer after time is up.
The General Educational Test lasts two hours, as the Professional License page says. The "125 minutes" in the general instructions is the length of the General Aptitude Test, not this one.
Your result
Your result appears in your profile through the "Inquiry about professional license test results" service, and results of the November 2026 round are expected in early December 2026. The score is a percentage: 50 for Practitioner, 70 for Advanced and 80 for Expert, and your level uses the lower of your General Educational and subject scores together with your qualification and experience. The details and full table are in General Educational Test results 1448 AH.
Retaking the test
- Can you retake? Yes: ETEC's date table has a separate registration window for "candidates who did not pass the General Educational Test" in each round, opening a few days before the window for everyone.
- Fee: each attempt costs SAR 100, the per-test fee in Article 9 of the Professional License Regulations.
- To raise your level: you can retake whichever test had the lower score, then request an "Upgrade professional license" (SAR 100) once you meet the conditions of the higher level. Each test result is valid for five years from its announcement.
- If you dispute a decision: you can appeal to ETEC within sixty days of the decision being placed in your profile (Article 12).
If you have another attempt ahead, start with the free questions, then the study plan by days remaining, and check the test dates and registration windows.
