Last verified: 18 October 2026. Fees and dates can change, so confirm everything on the Trainers' Professional Licenses page on the Education and Training Evaluation Commission (ETEC) website before you pay. This is an independent guide; it is not affiliated with ETEC or any government body and cannot register you.

The whole process has three stages, set out in Article 5 of the Trainers' Professional License Regulations: register for the test and submit documents so ETEC can verify your personal and professional details, sit the test, then apply for the license once you meet its conditions.

Each license is paid for separately, so if you take the general license and one specialised license you pay SAR 200 for each. ETEC's board sets the fees for the test, issuance and renewal (Article 8 of the Regulations).

Registering and getting the license, step by step

  1. Sign in to the ETEC e-services portal with the National Single Sign-On (Nafath) or your ID or iqama number and password.
  2. Register for the test under "Trainers' Professional Licenses": choose a date, complete your details and documents, and pay the test fee (SAR 100).
  3. Sit the test at one of ETEC's digital test centres, bringing a valid ID (see "ID" below).
  4. Check your result in your applicant file once it is released, or through the free "test results enquiry" service on the Sadeed platform, which shows your results automatically without entering any data.
  5. Issue the general license through the "issue a general trainer license" service on Sadeed: confirm you have read the license information, choose the sector you will use it in, enter your training fields, select the test, then pay SAR 200. ETEC describes this as a proactive service: the license is issued immediately once you have passed, meet the conditions and pay.
  6. Issue a specialised license if you need one through the "issue a specialised trainer license" service: pick the license from the list available, review your details (qualification, employment information, English skills, programmes you attended and programmes you delivered), attach the required documents, select the test, then submit the request and keep its reference number.
  7. Track the specialised request with the "license request enquiry" service. When its status becomes "approved, awaiting payment", pay the SAR 200.

We have not walked through the e-services portal or Sadeed ourselves, as both require signing in; the steps above come from the service pages on ETEC's website, and button labels may differ slightly.

ID

You can enter the test with any one of these:

  • National ID for Saudis, or iqama for non-Saudis
  • Your passport
  • A Saudi driving licence

Results and pass mark

Results appear in your applicant file as soon as they are released, and you can check them free of charge on Sadeed. ETEC's website states a pass mark of 55 or above.

Retakes

You can retake the test an unlimited number of times, registering for the dates ETEC announces. The official guide suggests that anyone retaking the test analyse their previous score to find the areas that need review.

General and specialised licenses

  • The general license is issued immediately after you pass, meet the conditions and pay SAR 200.
  • A specialised license is issued after approval by the body that regulates that field; ETEC lists the service time as "days". The service page lists issuing the general license, and meeting the field's specialised requirements, as conditions.
  • You can issue both together, and you can issue more than one specialised license on a single test result while that result is still valid.

License validity

The license is valid for five years and runs from its issue date. Its end date is set as follows (Article 6 of the Regulations):

  • If you issue the license within one calendar year of passing your most recent test, it expires five years after the issue date.
  • If you issue it after that year has ended, it expires five years after the end of that year.

In other words, waiting more than a year after passing shortens the license's real life, so issue it early.

Renewal

You can apply to renew during the final year of the license's validity, and renewal follows conditions set by ETEC (Article 7). ETEC says renewal currently follows the same process as issuance.
