Last verified: 30 October 2026. Fees and dates can change, so confirm everything on the Teachers' Professional License page on the Education and Training Evaluation Commission (ETEC) website before you pay. This guide is independent: it is not affiliated with ETEC, Qiyas (the National Center for Assessment) or any government body, and it cannot register you.

The Mathematics (Level 2) specialized test is one of the two tests the Teachers' Professional License needs. You register for it and pay for it on ETEC's portal, then register for the General Educational Test and pay for that separately.

Who can register?

ETEC's page says the test is for teachers in service in public and private schools and for people who want to work in teaching, and its FAQ includes recent graduates qualified for teaching jobs. Which qualifications are accepted for a particular teaching job is up to the employing body, and the Professional License Regulations require "the appropriate qualification" when the license is issued (Article 4). If your degree is not in mathematics or education, check that it is accepted before you pay.

Math 1 or Math 2?

They are two separate tests. According to ETEC's two mathematics teacher standards documents (1441 AH), Level 1 is for primary teachers and Level 2 for intermediate and secondary teachers. Choose the level that matches the stage you teach or apply for. This guide and our question bank cover Level 2 only.

The fee for issuing or upgrading the license is set in Article 9 of the Professional License Regulations for Educational Jobs.

How to register for Math 2

  1. Go to ETEC's e-services portal and open your beneficiary profile (ملف المستفيد), or create an account if you do not have one.
  2. Register for the specialized test during the announced registration window and choose Mathematics at Level 2.
  3. Pay the fee (SAR 100) from your profile by bank card or credit card. The window for changing your date applies once payment is complete.
  4. Sit the test on your date with a valid ID.
  5. Check your result in your profile once it is announced.

ETEC has a visual registration guide with screenshots for the specialized test (first edition, 2023). It covers creating an account, registering for the paper or the digital test, paying, changing your date and viewing your result. We have not used the portal ourselves because it needs a login, so button names may differ slightly.

Changing or deleting your booking

After paying, you can change or delete your booking in your profile up to 72 hours before a paper test, or 48 hours before a computer-based test. Your profile shows the format after you register, so use the cut-off that applies to you. A test you do not pay for is deleted from your profile automatically, so do not leave payment to the last day.

ID for test day

You can enter the test with any of these valid IDs:

  • National ID for Saudis, or iqama for non-Saudis
  • Passport
  • Saudi driving licence

Calculators are not allowed, and the test has 88 questions in 120 minutes.

The next window

The next specialized test window is expected in late January 2027. Keep checking ETEC's page and your profile on the portal to see when registration opens and closes; last round, registration opened about two and a half months before the test.

Results and how long they last

  • Where: your profile on the e-services portal; ETEC's visual guide shows how to view the result and its details.
  • Score: score = correct answers ÷ number of questions × 100, with no penalty for wrong answers. The minimum for a license is 50.
  • Validity: the result stays valid for five calendar years from the announcement date; the same applies to the General Educational and specialized tests.

How it relates to the General Educational Test

One result is not enough for the license. You need both: the specialized test in mathematics and the General Educational Test, which is the same for every subject (88 questions, paper only). Your level uses the lower of the two scores together with your qualification and years of experience, with these cut-offs (Article 4 of the Regulations):

ScoreLevel
50 to 69Practitioner Teacher
70 to 79Advanced Teacher
80 or aboveExpert Teacher

In the current round the General Educational Test is on 6 and 7 November 2026. Each test has its own registration and fee; see the registration guide for the General Educational Test.

Getting the license issued after you pass

The license is not issued automatically when your two results appear. The Professional License Regulations (Article 5) set out three stages:

  1. Register for the tests in the online system, and ETEC checks your details.
  2. Sit both tests, the General Educational Test and the specialized test; this stage ends when the results are announced.
  3. Apply for the license: you submit the request at the level whose conditions you fully meet (score, qualification and years of experience), and ETEC then issues it for SAR 100 (Article 9).

The license is valid for five years from the issue date if you issue it within one calendar year of passing your latest test; if you wait longer, the five years run from the end of that year (Article 6). So do not delay the request.

Before you pay

Before you pay the SAR 100 test fee, take the free questions and see where you stand in algebra, functions and geometry (38% together) and the other standards. Then read what the test covers and its weights.
