In short: the first 1448 AH sitting of the subject test ran from 18 to 31 October 2026. The next sitting is expected in late January 2027.
The current cycle (1448 AH, first sitting)
ETEC's schedule for the subject test in this cycle, which applies to all subjects including Arabic 1:
| Item | Date |
|---|---|
| Subject test dates | 18 to 31 October 2026 |
| Registration opens (people in service) | 3 August 2026 for men, 10 August 2026 for women |
| Registration opens (people who have not passed the subject test) | 5 August 2026 for men, 12 August 2026 for women |
| Registration opens (everyone) | 9 August 2026 for men, 16 August 2026 for women |
| Late registration starts | 27 September 2026 |
Registration opened for the first group about 11 weeks before the test began.
The next sitting
- Expected date: late January 2027.
- What to do now: watch ETEC's page and get ready so you are prepared when registration opens. The eight-week plan gets you to a full mock exam before the date.
Which test should you take first?
There is no required order between the subject test and the General Educational Test, and the license needs both. The General Educational Test for the 1448 AH cycle is on 6 and 7 November 2026 according to ETEC's schedule (details in General Educational Test dates 1448). Our suggestions:
- Sit whichever comes first if you are ready for it. Each result stays valid for five years, so your score is not lost if you pass one before the other.
- The level uses the lower of the two scores, so raising one and neglecting the other does not help. Split your preparation between them.
- Do not put off studying for the subject test until registration opens. The guide and standards (the 2020 edition) are the latest, so early study on them is not wasted.
Results and the license
- Result validity: five years from the date it is announced.
- License validity: five years, with renewal in the final year (Articles 6 and 7 of the Professional License Regulations).
- Steps and fees in detail: registering for the Arabic 1 test.
