Fees and dates can change, so confirm them on ETEC's website before you pay. This guide is independent: it is not affiliated with ETEC, Qiyas (the National Center for Assessment) or any government body, and it cannot register you.
The professional license needs two tests: the General Educational Test and the subject test. You register and pay for each one separately. This guide covers the Computer Science subject test; the General Educational Test has its own registration guide.
Fees
| Item | Fee |
|---|---|
| Computer Science subject test | SAR 100 |

The fee for issuing or upgrading the license is in Article 9 of the Professional License Regulations; the test fees are in the FAQ on ETEC's page.
How to register
- Go to ETEC's e-services portal and open your beneficiary profile, or create an account if you do not have one.
- Register for the subject test and choose Computer Science during the announced registration window.
- Pay the fee (SAR 100) from your profile.
- Check your profile: it shows whether your subject test is on paper or on computer, and your date and centre.
- Sit the test with a valid ID (see "Test day" below).
ETEC explains these steps with screenshots in its visual guide to registering for the subject test. We have not used the portal ourselves because it needs a login, so button names may differ slightly.

Results and license levels
Score = correct answers ÷ number of questions × 100, with no penalty for wrong answers. The Regulations (Article 4) set the levels by these scores:
| Score | Level | Approx. correct answers out of 88 |
|---|---|---|
| 50 to 69 | Practitioner Teacher | 44 or more |
| 70 to 79 | Advanced Teacher | 62 or more |
| 80 or above | Expert Teacher | 71 or more |
- Your level uses the lower of your General Educational and subject test scores, and you must also meet the qualification and years-of-experience conditions in the Article 4 table. If you score 82 in Computer Science and 65 in the General Educational Test, your level is based on 65.
- The license is not issued automatically when your result appears: you apply at the level whose conditions you fully meet, and issuing costs SAR 100 (Article 9).
How long your result is valid
A subject test result is valid for five years from the date it is announced, according to ETEC's page. If you pass Computer Science now, you have that long to pass the General Educational Test and apply for the license.
To see what the test measures read Computer Science subject test content, and to plan your time read the study plan by weeks remaining. Before you pay the SAR 100 test fee, take the free questions and see where you stand in programming and computer applications (28% together) and the other standards.
