Requirements, dates and payment steps can change, so confirm them in the SPLE applicant guide and on the licensure exam dates page of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) before you apply. This is an independent guide. It is not affiliated with SCFHS, Prometric or any government body, and it cannot register you.
Registering for the SPLE has three steps in order: an online application with SCFHS, a scheduling permit, then a date booked at a Prometric centre. The most common problem is leaving the booking to the end of the test window and finding no seat. The guide says that is the candidate's responsibility.
The route in brief
- Check that you are eligible and read the applicant guide.
- Apply through the SCFHS e-application and confirm that you have read the guide.
- After your application is processed, you receive an email with your scheduling permit and eligibility period.
- Book a date at Prometric inside a published test window, no more than three months ahead.
- Arrive on test day with your scheduling permit and valid ID in the same name.
- Results arrive 2 to 6 weeks after the test window closes.
Who can apply
The guide accepts one of three situations:
| Situation | Detail |
|---|---|
| Graduate | A recognised primary degree in pharmacy from an accredited programme |
| Intern | You have started training in the internship year |
| Student | You are one year from graduation. Students at Saudi universities and colleges can sit in the final year of the undergraduate degree |
Applying for an exam you are not eligible for is a violation under the guide, and so is giving false information on the application or scheduling permit. If you have not passed within two years of your graduation date, SCFHS classification and registration rules apply to you.
Application, scheduling permit and Prometric booking
Applications are online only. You pay the exam fee inside your application. Neither the guide nor the dates page states an amount, so the amount shown on your application page is the one that counts. Do not rely on figures circulating in forums and Telegram collections, which contradict each other.
Once your application is processed, SCFHS issues a scheduling permit with your eligibility period, which is the span your test date must fall in. An email tells you how to access the permit. You then visit the specified website and book your date at Prometric. You can test at any SCFHS-approved centre in Saudi Arabia or abroad, and the available centres appear when you book.
- Booking cannot be made more than three months in advance.
- You cannot sit twice in the same test window. The result of the first date is announced, and the second counts as an attempt with an invalid result.
- Scheduling your allowed attempts during the year is your responsibility. SCFHS is not responsible if you leave attempts to the end of the year and find no seat.
Upcoming test windows
| Window | Dates |
|---|---|
| Window 10, 2026 | 1 to 24 November 2026 (open) |
| Window 11, 2026 | 1 to 24 December 2026 |
| Window 1, 2027 | 3 to 21 January 2027 |
You book your own day inside the window. The remaining 2027 windows are on the dates page. If you are reading this in late November, aim for the December or January window, and remember that results come weeks after the window closes.
Test day
- Arrival: SCFHS test centres open at 7:30 a.m. If you are more than 30 minutes late for the time on your admission ticket, or absent, you are not allowed to sit and it counts as an attempt, unless the committee accepts a documented reason.
- Documents: your scheduling permit on paper or on your phone, and an unexpired passport or national or residence ID card (KSA only). The name on your ID must match the name on your permit exactly. Without either one you are not admitted and you pay a fee to reschedule within your eligibility period.
- Security check: a check before you enter the room, repeated each time you return from a break. Your photo ID and fingerprint may be scanned, and you sign the test centre log.
- Writing tools: the centre hands you laminated erasable writing surfaces, markers and erasers for notes and calculations, and you return them at the end. Write on nothing else. The guide does not mention a calculator, so practise your arithmetic by hand.
- Timing: two parts of 100 questions and 120 minutes each, with a 30-minute break. The computer tracks the time of each block and break. The block clock keeps running if you leave the room, and extra break time is deducted from your next block.
- After the break: arrive 10 to 15 minutes before the next block, because sign-in can take about 10 minutes.
Results and retakes
Results are not instant. After the window closes, psychometric analysis is run and results are announced within 2 to 6 weeks. You receive two reports: a statement of results and a report comparing your performance with other candidates. The pass mark is 536 on a scale of 200 to 800. It is a scaled score, not a percentage of correct answers.
- You can sit up to four times a year, counting from the first attempt, until you pass.
- After passing you get two further attempts to improve your score for residency selection.
- Because results take weeks, plan your next attempt before you know the last result, but do not book two windows in a row without reviewing your weak sections.
The dates page also shows a general rule for licensure exams: two more attempts after a first fail, then a new chance after one year. The SPLE guide itself sets four attempts a year, so follow the guide and recheck the page when you apply.
The guide says you can apply on the SCFHS website for the SPLE practice test, which follows the real blueprint and is sampled from the exam item bank. See the SCFHS website for details.
Before you pay the exam fee and book, find out where you stand. The 10 free questions give you an approximate score and your weakest sections with no sign-up. Then read what the exam covers and the study plan, or open the exam page.
This is an independent exam-preparation website. It is not affiliated with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties or any government body.
