Last verified: 18 October 2026. Fees, conditions and dates can change, so check the Insurance Foundations Certificate Exam page on the Financial Academy website and the exam policies page before you register and pay. This is an independent guide, not affiliated with the Financial Academy, the Insurance Authority or any government body, and it cannot register you.

Registration for this exam is simple compared with many others: there are no prerequisites, no certificate or training is needed first, and everything is done on the Academy website. What needs your attention is the fee for each attempt, the rules for changing your date, and what you may take into the room.

The journey in brief

  1. There is no prerequisite: no particular qualification and no compulsory training before the exam.
  2. Register on the Academy's exam registration page with your personal account (you need to sign in). If your employer is registering you, it is done through the employer's account.
  3. Choose the Insurance Foundations Certificate Exam, the exam language (Arabic or English), your date and your centre.
  4. Pay the full fee in advance: SAR 1,000.
  5. Arrive at the test centre at least 30 minutes early with valid ID and no calculator or phone.

Fees

ItemAmount
Exam fee per attemptSAR 1,000, paid in full in advance
Changing your date 15 or more days beforeFree
Changing your date 4 to 14 days beforeA fee applies (the Academy states SAR 100, and the same page lists a SAR 400 tier whose boundaries are unclear)
Requesting a review of your resultSAR 400 per request, refunded in full if an error in the exam is found

Some older sources quote SAR 550; that figure is out of date. The Academy's preparation programme page says the programme includes the fee for the first attempt and each later attempt costs SAR 1,000. The programme is a separate training option, not a requirement for registering.

Exam language

You choose Arabic or English when you register. The exam page says study materials are available in Arabic and English, but when we checked, the English link opened the same Arabic file, so do not assume the study text has a separate English edition. The syllabus is the same either way; see the syllabus guide.

Test centres

The Academy's test centres page lists five centres:

  • Riyadh: King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD)
  • Jeddah: Institute of Public Administration
  • Abha: Institute of Public Administration
  • Dammam: Applied College, Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University
  • Hail: University of Hail

Check the list when you register; centres can be added or changed.

Exam day: ID and what you can bring

  • Arrival: at least 30 minutes before the start.
  • ID: a valid national ID, iqama or passport whose name matches your registration. Enter your name at registration exactly as it appears on your document.
  • Calculator: not allowed, nor are phones, smart watches or any programmable device, under the Academy's policy for its own exams. The policy is general and does not name this exam, but the calculations in its syllabus are simple mental ones, such as applying average or sharing a claim between two insurers.

Changing your date

You can ask to reschedule at least three working days before the exam. It is free if requested 15 days or more before the date, and carries a fee after that. The policy says a second or later change costs the full exam fee. Fees are not refunded once paid unless the Academy cancels the exam, and after payment an individual cannot cancel the booking. So pay only when you are sure you will be ready for that date.

Note: these rules are published in the Academy's policy for its own exams, and this exam's page does not repeat them. We assumed they apply because the Academy provides the exam, so read the official page before relying on them.

Failing and resitting

If you score below 70% you can resit, paying the full fee for each attempt. The policy allows at most six attempts at the same exam within 12 months:

  • Attempts one to three: no gap between them.
  • Attempts four to six: two full weeks between each attempt and the one before.
  • After six attempts you can submit an exception request to the Professional Certificates Committee.

Each attempt costs SAR 1,000, so use them wisely: take the free practice test and score comfortably above 70% on the mock exam in the question bank before you book.

Reviewing your result

If you think your result contains a mistake, the Academy has a review route: email exams@fa.gov.sa within three working days of the exam, pay SAR 400 per request (refunded in full if an error in the exam is found), and the Academy replies within 20 working days.

For enquiries use the Academy's official channels listed on its FAQ page.

After you register

Start with the syllabus guide to see that Outcome 3 alone is 36 of the 100 questions, then practise in the question bank. If you work for an insurer, read who must sit the exam to learn your deadline. To go back to the exam page: IFCE Insurance Foundations Certificate Exam.
